Kumari Sailja inaugurates Haryana Exhibition


A five-day exhibition of modern and contemporary art traditions of Haryana, organised by Haryana Institute of Fine Arts (HIFA) in association with the Ministry of Culture, was inaugurated and is open for general public from today. Union Culture Minister Kumari Selja inaugurated the exhibition yesterday evening by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Lalit Kala Akademi here.

Eight artists, who had been selected for their best works, were also honoured after the exibition was inaugurated. The artists included Kashinath Das (painting), Renu Dhiman (photography), Pawan Kumar (sculpture), Rakesh Bani (graphics), Satwant Singh (drawing), Rahul Dhiman (graphics), Renuka Sondhi Gulati (sculpture) and Shivani Parmar (painting).

A number of prominent personalities including Suresh Kumar Goel, Director General, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Maj Gen (Retd) L K Gupta, chairman, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, Tasneem Mehta, Vice Chairman, INTACH, Amal Allana, chairperson, National School of Darama, Uma Sharma, Kathak Danseuse and Ustad Aslam Sabri, famous qwwal were also present on the occasion.
